Workshop: Technology Supports for Math Instruction with a UDL Focus

Suwilaawks Community School   

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

This hands-on workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to test out some free mathematics focused iPad apps and web based tools and reflect on how these tools can be used in their classrooms.  We will explore how technology can be used to engage students, capture student learning and support the new mathematics curriculum.

The session will provide an overview of the principles of Universal Design for Learning and iPad app demonstration in the morning and a maker session in the afternoon. Participants will create activities that will be ready to use immediately.

All participants will require a device (and access to the iPad apps using their Apple ID). A few devices will be provided with the following apps: Educreations, ShowMe, iMathematics and Desmos Graphing calculator.

Location:  Computer Lounge, Suwilaawks Community School, 3430 Sparks Street, Terrace

Facilitator: Fran Raab is a SET BC Provincial Teacher assisting school districts in utilizing technology with students. As a Tier 2 services teacher, she facilitates workshops and classroom based solutions which help build BC educators’ understanding of how technology can be used within current educational frameworks.

Cost: No cost to SD 82 Employees. Snacks provided, Lunch on your own.
